reality reaches China in contravention of great Britain's

undertakings.

During the last turee years the Chinese Customs nas

seised forty tons of opium, 30 awt. of morphis and nearly

zu awt. of codeine which was being matuggled into China.

Maritime Customs is of the opinion that a large proportion

of this opium which is being smuggled into Chine is of
